A Family Beach Apartment on the Costa del Sol
A holiday with kids is easier when the beach is 30 seconds away, the town is flat and safe to walk, and there's a proper kitchen and three bedrooms to spread out in. Our apartment in Sabinillas is built for exactly that: first line to a calm Blue Flag beach, sleeping six, with a cot and high chair on request. Here's why it works for families.
Why Sabinillas suits families
Sabinillas is a proper Andalusian beach town, not a party resort. The Blue Flag beach shelves gently and rarely packs out, even in August, so it's easy to keep an eye on small swimmers. The town is flat, walkable and safe, with everything — beach, shops, restaurants, playground, pharmacy — within a short push of the pram. Spanish families holiday here in summer, which tells you plenty: children are welcome everywhere, and dinner at nine with kids in tow is completely normal.
The apartment for families
It's 96 m² with three bedrooms and two bathrooms, sleeping six, so two families or the grandparents can come along without anyone stuck on a sofa bed. There's a full kitchen for making up bottles and simple dinners, air conditioning in every room for hot nights, and a shared pool and garden a minute from the door. A travel cot, a high chair, a baby monitor and board games are there on request, and beach toys can be waiting for you.
Things to do with kids
Most days sort themselves out between the beach and the pool. When you want more, the La Duquesa marina is about a 20-minute walk (or a few minutes by car), with boat trips and ice cream; paddleboards and kayaks are easy to rent in summer; and the Friday and Sunday markets make a cheap morning out. Estepona, 15 minutes away, has its Orchidarium and the Selwo safari park, and the Full Moon Festival in late July — everyone in white, fire shows on the sand — is genuinely one for families.
The practical stuff
Lidl and Mercadona are a walk away for a big shop, there are pharmacies in town and a health centre nearby, and the flat, pram-friendly promenade runs the length of the beach. Málaga airport is around 75 minutes and Gibraltar about 30, both an easy drive. A private garage is available if you're hiring a car and travelling with a couple of car seats.
